Violinist Elizabeth Wright is a performer and teacher based in New York City. She has performed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, United Nations, Carnegie Hall, and in Europe, Asia, and around the US. Liz is violinist and co-founder of the Luminae Trio, praised by the American Prize for their “careful choices, elegant phrasing and beauty of sound virtually always.” The Luminae Trio is 2nd prize winner of the 2023 American Prize for the Performance of American Music and 3rd prize winner of the American Prize in Chamber Music. The ensemble will release its first record later this year, funded by a 2023 Ensemble Forward grant from Chamber Music America. Prior to the formation of the Luminae Trio, Liz was a Grand Prize winner of the 2015 Ruth Widder  String Quartet Competition and a three-time winner of the Lillian Fuchs Chamber Music Competition. Liz performs with the Bach Choir of Bethlehem Festival Orchestra, the Washington Heights Chamber Orchestra, and teaches privately. She spends summers on faculty at the Vermont Music & Arts Center. Originally from Bethlehem, PA, Liz earned a Bachelor of Music from University of Michigan and a Master of Music from Manhattan School of Music. Her primary teachers include Deborah Buck, Aaron Berofsky, Andrew Jennings, and Laurie Smukler. She received additional training at the Weimar Bach Academy, Colorado College Summer Music Festival, and National Repertory Orchestra. This year, Liz and co-author Casey Lipka released The Feel Good Practice Journal, a  companion for musicians designed to bring loving attention to the practice room. The journal can be purchased on Amazon. When she is not playing or teaching, Liz loves to read, go to cafes, and spend time outside.
