Chamber Music Camp at Bear Crossing

Bear Crossing 156 Indian Run Rd, New Ringgold, PA 17960
Summer Chamber Music camp sponsored in part by ACMP.

Chamber Music Camp at Bear Crossing is for people of all ages and abilities* who enjoy making music and learning the skills of playing with others.

Activities:

  • The goal of this camp is to improve Chamber Music playing skills, learn new repertoire, and enjoy a week of music making in a relaxed country setting.
  • We accept all levels, and all ages of players. Basic playing and counting skills are required.
  • We will explore the treasures of the classic string quartet repertoire, as well as fun arrangements of more popular music.
  • Besides playing in Chamber Music groups you will be able to get pointers to improve your technique.
  • Sight reading sessions will be available for three days out of five. If necessary, teachers will lead the group, reading through a Chamber Music piece together, or one on a part.
  • Daily home made scones and coffee in the morning, and home made  lunches by chef Agnès Maurer are included in tuition.

** Basic rhythm and note reading skills required.**

Music:  We will provide music. For the best experience, register early so you have plenty of time to practice!

Camp environment: Bear Crossing Music Camp is situated in the hills of Pennsylvania. A small creek flows next to our concert hall.

Note: In 2024 we experimented with activities that help players relax and learn how to handle stress. It was very successful, and we will have similar activities again this summer. Along with the idea of keeping stress under control we no longer have an end of the camp concert. We instead finish with a sight reading session, everyone together.

Tuition: $450

Registration deadline: June 1

Full payment due with registration, checks made payable to Simon Maurer.
